The estate wines are sold under the Grand Veneur label, but they have also started a négociant business under the name Alain Jaume. Those wines have been very promising as well. A knock-out value is the estate 2012 Côtes du Rhône Les Champauvins, a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Always one of the vintage's finest Côtes du Rhônes, it comes from a large, morsellated estate property north of Châteauneuf du Pape. At this quality level, it is amazing that the Jaume family produces nearly 10,000 cases. The 2012, from a far superior vintage than 2013, boasts a dark ruby\/plum color as well as a sweet perfume of kirsch, lavender, new saddle leather, pepper, blackcurrants and licorice.
