Raspberry is a popular flavor and fruit that is grown all over the world. Scientists are unsure where the Raspberry originated because the fruit is grown on five continents and is one of the most ancient varieties of berries—dating back to 2,000 years. Raspberries are thought to have originated in Asia and are an important fruit in California, Oregan, and parts of the Midwest. The berries are round, and contain small prickly hairs, seeds, and a juicy interior. The fruit includes several varieties, including the black raspberry, yellow raspberries, purple raspberries, and golden raspberries. The fruit is typically planted in the winter and can be easily harvested. Raspberries are fermented and aged for months to create wine that has a sweet tone and slightly sour notes. Red raspberries produce a nice aromatic wine that is not overpowering, and it is great when combined with chocolates, desserts, or mixed with Champagne. Raspberry creates a lovely dessert wine and is also great paired with poultry dishes, such as pork chops.
