bired is a red hybrid grape from Tinto Cao and Alicante Ganzin. Rubired is a California grape variety bred by Dr. Harold Olmo in 1958 for exclusive plantation in the San Joaquin Valley. Rubired produces an extremely intensely colored grape with large harvests. Rubired is used in the production of the concentrated coloring agent, Mega Purple. Mega Purple is used in low cost wines to heighten and develop the color and add sweetness. Rubired is also used in grape juice, red wine blends, and budget rose.
