Chianti is a region in Tuscany, which is located in the central part of Italy. The region has fluctuations in weather. During July and August, it can be very hot that can suddenly drop in the evenings.  The changing weather plays a major role on why Chianti thrives in grape varieties.

Chianti is known to grow different kinds of grapes. Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah grapes are popular in the region. However, Sangiovese grapes dominate in production. There are more Sangiovese grapes that get produced in Chianti over anything else. Sangiovese grapes are the main source of red wine production in the region. The popular wine, Chianti Classico, has become a trademark of Chianti.

But then again, Chianti is all about grape varieties, which lead to the production of a wide range of wines. The region’s hot and cold climate and chalky soils enable it to grow and harvest great varieties of grapes and wine. In today’s time, Chianti is considered a great source of world-class wines.
