Our ancestors emigrated from Germany – from near Bremen – in 1650, and we have been cultivating the vine and making wine at our current location in Senftenberg since 1738. Our estate is located at the gateway to the winegrowing region Kremstal, which connects the Wachau with the landscape of deeply carved river valleys, articulated by forest and rock, typical of Austria’s Waldviertel region. Thanks to the depth and duration of the family’s roots in the neighbourhood, we have compiled a great deal of knowledge regarding the steeply sloped vineyards here.A vibrant and practical tradition has evolved out of the dynamic tension between the collected experience of generations and our curiosity about everything worth knowing. We regard ourselves as craftsmen, as mountain viticulturalists with rich past behind us and a creative present day.
