Casorzo Ruche di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG 2024 is made from 100% Ruche.
Ruche is one of Italy's rarest native reds, grown in only a handful of villages around Castagnole Monferrato in the hills of Piedmont — a zone so small and singular it earned its own DOCG. Cantina di Casorzo, the local cooperative farming these slopes since 1951, vinifies it dry to let the grape's remarkable natural perfume shine.
Medium-bodied and around 14% alcohol, it opens with a heady lift of rose petal and wild berry, backed by red cherry, a whisper of black pepper and soft, supple tannins. Aromatic yet fully dry, it's a wonderfully distinctive red for roast poultry, charcuterie, mushroom pasta and mid-weight fare — the kind of bottle that surprises anyone who thinks they've tasted every Italian grape.
