Cazaux Gigondas Tour Sarrasine is made from 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre. 45 year old vines on average.
This strong, warm wine comes from a selection of grapes planted on exceptional soils. The vineyards in Gigondas are situated on the arid hills of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The Mistral blows regularly on these slopes which limits the amount of treatment needed to the vines. The vines grow on stony soils and produce wine that can be kept easily for 10 yrs.
Intense, persistent red and dark fruit aromas. Raspberry, pepper and spice flavors. Silky tannins.
Review:
Based on 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, and 15% Syrah and aged 24 months in stainless steel tank and concrete, the 2023 Gigondas La Tour Sarrasine offers ultra-classic Provençal red fruits, spice, savory garrigue, and hints of leather. It's a medium-bodied Gigondas with upfront, sweet fruit, ripe tannins, no hard edges, and outstanding length. This charming effort will put a smile on your face any time over the coming 10-12 years. Drink 2026-2038.

Harmonious and lively, the 2023 Gigondas La Tour Sarrasine unfurls in the glass with aromas of mulberries, cassis, spices and garrigue. Medium- to full-bodied, seamless and layered, the palate is fleshy and enveloping, framed by velvety tannins and concluding with a long, fresh finish. This blend of 70% Grenache Noir, 15% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah is a stunning bottle in the making.

Blending 70% Grenache with the remainder equally split between Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2023 Gigondas La Tour Sarrasine starts a little reductive. Time in the glass gradually unlocks just-ripe red fruits, peppery elements and dried herbs. Blackberries add another layer. Much more engaging on the full-bodied palate than the nose, the 2023 offers remarkable overall intensity and freshness. Built around polished tannins and finishing long and spicy, the 2023 is best kept for at least two more years in a cool cellar.
