A blend of 50% Syrah, 50% Grenache.
Deep color. Intense and persistent red fruits, spice and violet aromas. Intense black cherry, blackberry, blueberry and cherry flavors. Explosive fruit tannins give the sweet, creamy flavors structure and focus, bright and uplifting on the finish.
Enjoy this wine when young with grilled beef and bearnaise sauce, lamb and thyme. After 7-10 years excellent with game meats.
Review:
Even better, and a knockout effort, as well as a superb value, the 2010 Vacqueyras Cuvee des Templier is a traditionally made blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah that’s aged all in tank. Voluptuous and rich, with knockout black cherry-slanted fruit, herbs de Provence, licorice and background meatiness, it flows onto the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, great texture and loads of upfront, fresh fruit. Enjoy it over the coming 4-5 years.
Founded in 1905, Clos des Cazaux is run today by Maurice Vache and his two sons, Jean-Michel and Frederic. Covering roughly 60 acres in Gigondas and 37 in Vacqueyras, this estate produces a number of cuvees, with the style being predominantly traditional; however, some new oak barrels are used for the Syrah. This is a rock-solid lineup of wines. Wine Advocate 91 Point
