Product Description

Overview

Winery: Chono

Chono San Lorenzo Estate Red Blend is made from 30% Carmenere, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc, 10% Syrah & 10% Petit Syrah.

Our Premium comes from the organically managed vineyards San Lorenzo , located in Isla de Maipo and is produced in very limited quantities, in years where the grapes are suitable to maintain its quality standard. It is a blend of the best plots of Carmenere -Cabernet Sauvignon – Syrah- Petit Sirah  and Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.

Review:

This unconventional blend is based on a bunch of grapes, Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc up front. There's earthy, herbal coolness to the nose and mild scratch to the palate. This woody, spicy, fully oaked number tastes of cherry, cassis and plum along with toast and chocolate on the finish. Drink through 2021. - Wine Enthusiast 91 Points

Chono Estate CHONO was created by the famous Winemaker Alvaro Espinoza in 2004 when he started to develop their own wines and brands in Geo Wines S.A. after a period of providing technical and commercial assistance to a select number of wineries. CHONO offers wines that invite wine drinkers on an exciting journey through some of Chile’s most interesting appellations. Each farm is carefully selected, allowing the different varieties to express themselves at their best with all of their varietal character and fruit potential.

In 1916 a young Eduard Moore served in the Chilean Army and formed part of an expedition to the southern territory of the country. Guide of this expedition was the native “indio Palancán”, some of the last true CHONOS that lived in that area. One of the founders of the company, heard about these amazing stories since he was a child; Eduard Moore was his grandfather! These stories were the inspiration to create a wine that would reflect that same passion for life and for nature.
