Mordoree Lirac Rouge Reine des Bois 2013 is made from Grenache 30%, Viognier 10%, Roussanne 10%, Marsanne 10%, Picpoul 10%, Clairette 20%, Miscellaneous 10%

Aromas : white fruits, peach, apricot, pear, violet.
Palate : rounded, long finish, highly flavoured.

Even better than the La Dame Rousse, and easily one of the top wines of the appellation, the 2013 Lirac Cuvee de la Reine des Bois is made from equal parts Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, and will spend 12 months 70% in tank and 30% in older barrels. Possessing awesome notes of cassis, violets, licorice and crushed-rock-like minerality, this fabulous effort has full-bodied richness, layers of sweet fruit, and chewy, ripe tannin that keeps the finish going. Hats off to the Delorme brothers for this smoking effort.
I’ve yet to see these guys put a foot wrong, and regardless of the vintage, they’re able to make superb wines. In addition to their terrific Châteauneuf du Papes, they continue to raise the quality of their Lirac and Côtes du Rhône releases.
