Pago de Carraovejas Reserva 2010 is made from 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Light and over ripe grapes selected in the vineyard, transported in boxes and taken to a sorted table, falling into the fermentation containers by gravity.
Aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. Clarified with natural egg white and bottled in April 2008.
Cherry red color with purple tinges. Ripe fruit on the nose with well integrated oak. Flavorful, elegant, sweet tannins. Long and powerful.
Review:
(90% tempranillo and 10% cabernet sauvignon; aged for 12 months in new French oak): Opaque ruby. High-pitched aromas of redcurrant, cherry, tobacco and smoky minerals, with a sexy vanillin oak quality emerging with aeration. Juicy and precise, with bitter cherry and rose pastille flavors given spine by tangy acidity. Supple tannins come up slowly on the finish, which leaves spicecake and candied red fruit notes behind. I particularly like the interplay of oak and fruit here. -Stephen Tanzer 93 Points
The 2010 Reserva, Tempranillo (97%), Cabernet Sauvignon (2%) and Merlot (1%), aged for one year in barrel. It is a sleek wine displaying a combination of fruit, flowers, spices and hints of bouquet starting to develop in bottle, with earthy tones and mineral sensations. The palate is smooth and clean, with polished, fine-grained tannins and good balance. I don-t usually see a big difference in quality between Crianza and Reserva. Drink now-2019.
