"More approachable, but no less impressive, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) looks gorgeous, and is probably the most complete wine in the lineup. Layered and rich, yet ultra-pure and elegant, it gives up classic creme de cassis, lead pencil shavings, licorice and liquid flower-like qualities to go with full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. Relatively civilized, yet with building tannin and richness, it should benefit from short-term cellaring and have two decades of longevity."
- Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate (Issue #213, June 2014), 97 - 100 pts

Varietal: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Vineyards: Champoux, Klipsun, Palengat, Tapteil and Wallula
Barrels: 100% New French Oak
Time in Barrel: 22 months
Bottled: August 2013

The 2011 growing season featured a cool spring and summer followed by a warm fall. This allowed for vineyards to achieve full physiological maturity. Quantities offered for purchase this year are significantly reduced due to the freeze damage that occurred in late 2010 at Champoux Vineyard. This did not affect quality, only quantity.

The 2011 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley is a very rich, ripe and concentrated wine with a liqueur-like texture and weight. Seemingly endless waves of blackberry, blueberry, cassis and plum fruit coat the entire palate with nuances of violets, Asian soy, smoke, cedar, vanilla, minerals and black tea. The amazingly long finish lasts for over a minute on the palate. This classic wine should age effortlessly for 20+ years. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vintage: 2011
Bottle Size: 750ml
Organic: NO

The Quilceda Creek Vintners Estate

The winery was founded in 1978 and is dedicated exclusively to produce world-class Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon.

“Alex Golitzin, nephew of famed enologist André Tchelistcheff, focues on Cab alone with spectacular results; cult wines sold via mailing list.” - Anthony Dias' blue pocket guide to wine 2006

"Quilceda Creek Vintners remains a model of consistency. In the outstanding 2005 vintage, Quilceda Creek’s Cabernet Sauvignon remains the benchmark for what can be achieved in Washington and the United States. Some good news from the winery is that beginning with the 2006 vintage, there will be a new vineyard designate, a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Palengat Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. The vines are only 7 years old but the potential is enormous as a taste from barrel attests." - Wine Advocate (Issue 177, July 2008)

The Quilceda Creek Vintners Vineyard

The grapes are sourced from 5 different vineyards: Champoux, Ceil du Cheval, Klipsun, Tapteil, Galitzine Estate, all in Benton City. They produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Columbia Valley Red Wine.
