Review:

"The 2012 "CVR" Columbia Valley Red Wine is a declassified blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with splashes of Merlot and Malbec. It offers up plenty of classic Quilceda character with notions of blackberry liqueur, toasted spice, graphite and licorice as well as full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. Already supple and approachable, yet with notable tannin structure, it will deliver the goods on release, and over the following decade or more. Drink: 2014 - 2024 - Jeb Dunnuck"

- Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate (Issue #213, June 2014), 92-94 pts

"The 'CVR' is Quliceda Creek’s entry level wine which is made from fruit that didn’t quite make the grade for their flagship Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The blend for the 'CVR' changes each year, with the 2012 being composed of 91% Cabernet, 7% Merlot and 3% Cab Franc. This is very expressive with ripe and complex aromas of cassis, mocha, black olive and cedar notes, which all come together beautifully. This possesses a rich and dense palate that persists with notes of anise, crème de cassis, black olive and blackberry ending with impressive minerality and wonderful length. Overall, a rich and refined wine that's open but can also benefit from many years in the cellar. (Best 2015-2025) - OB."

The Quilceda Creek Vintners Estate

The winery was founded in 1978 and is dedicated exclusively to produce world-class Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon.

“Alex Golitzin, nephew of famed enologist André Tchelistcheff, focues on Cab alone with spectacular results; cult wines sold via mailing list.” - Anthony Dias' blue pocket guide to wine 2006

"Quilceda Creek Vintners remains a model of consistency. In the outstanding 2005 vintage, Quilceda Creek’s Cabernet Sauvignon remains the benchmark for what can be achieved in Washington and the United States. Some good news from the winery is that beginning with the 2006 vintage, there will be a new vineyard designate, a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Palengat Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. The vines are only 7 years old but the potential is enormous as a taste from barrel attests." - Wine Advocate (Issue 177, July 2008)

The Quilceda Creek Vintners Vineyard

The grapes are sourced from 5 different vineyards: Champoux, Ceil du Cheval, Klipsun, Tapteil, Galitzine Estate, all in Benton City. They produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Columbia Valley Red Wine.
