The Quilceda Creek 2010 Columbia Valley Red Wine is a blend of declassified lots that didn't make it into our flagship wines. Having this strict selection allows our best wines to compete at the highest level on a global scale. The resulting wine is filled with black cherry fruit, star anise, roasted herbs, cedar, vanilla and minerals. This blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec will best be enjoyed over the next 15 years.

"A superb entry level effort that has not only layers of fruit and texture, but solid back-end structure, the 2010 Red Wine is a declassified blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, yet has 15% Merlot and a splash of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc [sic] in there as well. Up-front, perfumed and intense, it offers up spice-laced red and black fruits, toast, cedar, vanilla and hints of chocolate to go with a full-bodied, mouth-filling and voluptuously textured palate. Lacking the polish and elegance that can be found in this estate's upper tier efforts, it nevertheless has superb fruit, ripe tannin and serious length. Some good news from the winery is that beginning with the 2006 vintage, there will be a new vineyard designate, a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Palengat Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. The grapes are sourced from 5 different vineyards: Champoux, Ceil du Cheval, Klipsun, Tapteil, Galitzine Estate, all in Benton City. They produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Columbia Valley Red Wine.
