Rubus Rosado Prieto Picudo 2012 is made from 100% Prieto Picudo.
Prieto Picudo is a red grape varietal grown around the town of Valdevimbre, in the province of Leon in Spain.
Elaboration: After a rigorous selection during the harvest and a careful transportation; the destemmed grape bunches are placed in stainless steel deposits where they are subject to a prefermentative skin contact maceration during two days at low temperature.
After this process, the grape juice is separated from the skins and stems of the grapes and it is someted to a static racking. Just before the fermentation is completed, new fresh Prieto Picudo grapes are added to the grape juice which stimulates a new fermentation, this time intracellular. This second fermentation will provide the wine with a natural, light and subtle sparkle. When this second fermentation is completed the wine is clarified, filtered and bottled. This kind of semi-sparkling rosé wine is the traditional wine of our region, Valdevimbre, know as “clarete de aguja”.
