Tamarack Cabernet Franc 2011 is made from 100% Cabernet Franc.
40% new French oak with the remaining half older French oak. Select barrels from the best forests of Taransaud, Millet, Vicard, Boutes, Dargaud and Jaegle coopers.
Crushed gently and dropped by gravity into 1.5 ton bins, cold soaked 72 hours, then inoculated with a variety of yeasts, hand punched and pressed directly to barrel where the wine finished both primary and secondary fermentations.
Glorius vintage with wonderful weather conditions for normal production of low tonnages equaling delicious, balanced and succulent fruit.
Tamarack Cabernet Franc 2011 is elegant with spiced cherry, blackberry and boysenberry mingling pleasingly and lingering seductively with a hint of oak, smooth chocolate and mocha on the structured tannins and fine-grained finish.
"Looking at the 2010s from bottle and a great value, the 2010 Cabernet Franc is a 100% varietal blend that comes from the Weinbau, Ciel du Cheval and Tapteil Vineyards. Aged in 40% new French oak, it offers plenty of toasty red and black fruits, pepper, underbrush and liquid flower-like aromas that give way to a medium to full-bodied, beautifully fresh and focused palate. Elegant and polished, it packs a solid punch of tannin on the finish and will benefit from short-term cellaring. It will have 7-8 years or more of longevity. - JD"
