Overview

Winery: Viejo Isaias

Viejo Isaias Rose of Malbec 2013  is 100 percent Malbec.

This magnificent rosé is entirely made of Malbec. It is a young wine with an attractive reddish tone. The fresh, fruity, floral aroma evokes cherries, strawberries and rose petals. The subtle presence of oak gives this wine a perfect balance. In the mouth, it is fresh, tasty and robust. It has a long and persistent, though well balanced, finish

Temperature controlled fermentation with selected yeasts. 10 hours of Skin Contact Maceration Malolactic fermentation: 0%. Rose wines are the result of the interruption of the maceration process of red grapes. There is a shorter contact between the skins and the must, which gives a paler color to the juice.

Pairs well with white meats, pastas, fish, seafood.

The Viejo Isaias Estate

The owner and winemaker is Rodrigo Manuel Romero. 2004 was the first vintage for this winery. Total current production: 4,200 cases. The label represents both grandparents of the winemaker. The rose on the label signifies the first new rose of each season--every year his grandfather Isaias would watch for the first rose to give to his wife, Juana.

The Viejo Isaias Vineyard

The grapes are sourced in Perdriel, Lujan de Cuyo and Upper river Mendoza region. Rocky, sandy soils located 950 meters above sea level, irrigated by flooding river waters coming from the Andes mountain range, make the perfect match for vine growing. They use purchased grapes and farm 11 hectares (27.17 acres) of their own vineyards of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, and will plant another 5 acres of Malbec in the summer of 2008. In 2009 they will plant a Syrah vineyard.
